Final Season Wrap-Up

Thank you again for another great Gator season. The team movie night was Kung-Fu cozy and we are glad so many of you could make it.

Swimmer Files: the file box is now in the guards office. You 100% have items in your swimmer file if you a) missed the banquet, b) swam at League, c) swam at State, or d) neglected to check the box this season. We’d love for you to grab your swimmer’s stuff.
Fall Swim Clinic: We will host our annual Fall swim clinic at the Green Mountain Rec Center starting in mid to late September. Once we have the dates and times secured, we will post to our website on the side bar under Next Event. Stay tuned.

Movie Night + Big Win!

Reminder: We have our final team gathering on Wednesday night 7/24 from 8:30pm – 10:15pm-ish for team movie night. This is a non-swimming event and is for our swim team only + siblings and/or parents. Swimmers are encouraged to bring blankets and pillows for a cozy night. – Please do not show up before 8:15pm. The lifeguards need time to clear the grounds and pick up before we head in. – Parents are welcome to stay or drop off and return around 10:00pm.

Finally, a massive congratulations to our State Team. We placed 3rd at State behind Virginia Vale (1st) and Applewood Knolls (2nd). From the outside this may not seem impressive, BUT IT IS! We had 20-40 less swimmers than both of those teams and beat many teams bigger than ours. Our kids were fast, our coaches were on it, and our parents were loud. Way to get at it Gators!

Team Banquet + State Meet

Week of 7/15 (as we wind down and also ramp up!) Congrats to our League Swimmers! Our team place 2nd this year right behind Applewood Knolls.

Summary:
Monday: State Meet Practice Times (see below)
Wednesday: Team Banquet @ 5:30pm
Fri-Sun: State Meet

Details:
State practice this week:
7:00-8:00 am: 13 and older
8:00-9:00am: 12 and under

Banquet: – Wednesday 5/17 @ 5:30pm: We have our end of the season Team Banquet on Wednesday night (rain or shine). This is a wonderful time to honor all our swimmers and reward them for their hard work this season. We will have awards, certificates, ribbons, trophies, medals and more! The team will provide pizza and water/lemonade. Each family should bring a dish to share….
Last Names A-L: side dish / Last Names M-Z: Dessert.
The coaches will be dressed to impress and many of the swimmers like to dress up too. For everyone else, flip flops and t-shirts are excellent choices. Please bring your potluck item and a chair, then sit back and enjoy.

If you cannot make the banquet, stop by the Guard Shack at the pool to look through the Swimmer File box. It will be updated with any awards your swimmer might have won, ribbons from previous meets, an individual times report for the season and whatever else might come up.

State Meet:
Entries for State are due on Monday by noon. If your swimmer is qualified and can’t swim, please let the coaches know ASAP. The side bar will be updated with details as soon as we have them, as well as our timing assignments (which we will not know until Wednesday). A detailed email will be coming your way.

Volunteers Needed for League

Hello Families. We are 11 people short for our meet responsibilities.

All spots remaining are for Deck Marshall. It’s an easy job. I will give you a fancy construction worker vest that says “Deck Marshall” and you can tell kids to “move along and stop clogging up the deck”. You will also probably get to tell the multitude of 5Parks Junior Coaches that “no. you can’t have 8 people behind the blocks to pump up your 9 year-old swimmer.” There is a special joy in that! You will have plenty of time to watch your kid swim, so please consider helping.

Practice and Warm Up Updates

As we reach our league meet and make our way into state, here are few updates:

Practice:

  • League 400 swimmers: Warm up and pacing practice tomorrow any time between 6:30 and 8 am. We will have a dedicated lane to warm up.
    • Other League swimmers: Regular Practice at 6:30 and 8. We will be done early for both practice sessions so swimmers can rest before their races.
    • Practice next week is for state qualifiers. Upper division will be from 7-8am and all lower division will be from 8-9am. We will start collecting state entries tomorrow (Friday 7/12). Swimmers can qualify for state at league.

Warm Up:

  • League 400 warm up on Friday is open at 5:15. There are no designated lanes, it is first come first serve for 45 minutes.
  • On Saturday and Sunday of League Upper Division will warm up at the Green Mountain Pool from 6-6:20. Lower division will warm up at Splash from 6:15-6:30. This will ensure that we have enough space to warm up instead of condensing 84 swimmers into three lanes. Upper division swimmers will carpool to Splash at the end of warm up and have the opportunity to do starts from 6:45-6:55.

League Entries

Entries are posted on the sidebar. Please take a look at your swimmer’s individual entries to make sure they are correct. If not you can call or text Ethan at 7203354894.

Something different this meet, you may see your swimmers relay entries say “(Alternate)” next to them. That means your swimmer is not in that relay, but we put them in the system to be swapped into that relay as needed. We can usually do this without issue at a dual meet, but there are stricter rules at this meet. If you have questions please let Ethan know.
