Swim Team: Week of 7/10

Summary:
Monday- Start of Gator Week (Potential last week of practice)
Tues/Thurs – Upper Division Night Practice
Saturday- Final home meet vs. Genesee
Sunday – Last Chance Meet at 5 Parks

Details:
– Gator Week: Gator week is the most challenging swim week for our team. The coaches are trying to push the kids to get faster, improve their times and potentially qualify for League or State. You may hear your kids say, “practice was really hard today!” This is the one week where the coaches really step up the intensity, so get those kids hydrated and read to go.
– Potential last week of practice: the week of 7/10 will be the last week of practice if your swimmer does not qualify for League. The week of 7/17 is for League swimmers only. The week of 7/24 is for State swimmers only. (We still have 2 fun team events, even if your kid is done swimming).
– Saturday 7/15 is our last home meet, as well as the last meet of the season for many of our swimmers. We always need volunteers so please sign up.
– Sunday 7/16 is the Last Chance Meet. This is a meet for kids that are very close to making League and need one last chance to qualify. (Swimmers can not use this meet to improve their times for League or State). Please talk to the coaches at our Saturday home meet if your swimmer would like to participate.

– Team Movie Night is on Wednesday 7/19 at the pool. This is for swim team members (and siblings) to hang out after pool hours and celebrate another great summer swim season. You can drop your swimmer at 8:45pm (stay if you would like) and the movie will start at sundown around 9pm. WE will be done at 10:30pm. This is a non-swimming event and pajamas, blankets, and pillows are all recommended. We will provide lemonade, popcorn and snacks from our concession stand. INTRASQUAD TONIGHT

  • Yes we are going to give it a go tonight!
  • We still need volunteers. See Danielle at the meet for your spot.
  • We are changing the order of events to accommodate the abrupt cancellation of our last intrasquad. (This will be posted at the pool tonight):
    — We are starting with event 75 (Breaststroke) through event 110 IM
    — We then move into events 17 (25/50 Freestyle) through event 64 (backstroke)
    — We will end with the upper division 400s (events 1-6)
  • Our final event will be the coaches and parents relay if/when the weather holds for us.

    See you all at the meet! Warm up is 5:00pm / start at 5:30pm.

Spirit Week

This week is spirit week gators! Today we played 4th of July theme games to celebrate the holiday, but the rest of the week is as follows:

Tuesday: No Practice for the 4th. No night practice for upper division. Have fun and stay safe

Wednesday: Wacky sock Wednesday! Wear your craziest socks to swim in. The bigger the better. Also intrasquad with a parent and coaches relay that evening.

Thursday: Two suit Thursday! Double up your bathing suits for twice the swimming power.

Friday: Fill it up Friday! Bring anything but a water bottle to drink out of for the set. No glass please!

Swim Team Updates: Week of 7/3

Details:
– Monday 7/3: yes – practice as usual
– Tuesday 7/4: no practice
-Wednesday 7/5: practice + Intrasquad 3
-Saturday 7/8: Home Meet
– Photo updates, AAC results updates, Parent Swimmers Needed!

Summary:
– Sign up sheets for the intrasquad are due by Monday 7/3.
– Our final intrasquad is on Wednesday 7/5. Please sign up to help. — We will have a parents/coaches relay at the end of the meet. It’s super fun and our parent team came in second last year (we had some ringers!). We need 4 (or 8) parents that are willing to swim in a relay. Please email or let Danielle know if you are interested.
– Home Meet: Our last two dual meets will be at our pool. As always, we will need lots of help, so please check the sign up genius.
– Team Photos: Our photographer, Alex Hearn, will send a weblink as soon as she is done editing the pictures. I will send out information and post the link to our website. You will be able to view and order pictures directly from the link.
– AAC/Pentathlon results: We are still working with the Swimmingly reps to get the results imported into our system . The times will count from these two meets and we apologize for how long it is taking. We are working hard behind the scenes!
