Week of 7/21 (as we wind down and also ramp up!) Congrats to our League Swimmers! Our team placed 2nd this year right behind Applewood Knolls.
Summary:
Monday: State Meet Practice Times (see below)
Wednesday: Team Banquet @ 5:30pm
Fri-Sun: State Meet
Details:
State practice this week:
7:00-8:00 am: 13 and older
8:00-9:00am: 12 and under
Banquet: – Wednesday 5/23 @ 5:30pm: We have our end of the season Team Banquet on Wednesday night (rain or shine). This is a wonderful time to honor all our swimmers and reward them for their hard work this season. We will have awards, certificates, ribbons, trophies, medals and more! The team will provide pizza and water/lemonade. Each family should bring a dish to share….
Last Names A-L: side dish / Last Names M-Z: Dessert.
The coaches will be dressed to impress and many of the swimmers like to dress up too. For everyone else, flip flops and t-shirts are excellent choices. Please bring your potluck item and a chair, then sit back and enjoy. This is a non-swimming event.
If you cannot make the banquet, stop by the Guard Shack at the pool to look through the Swimmer File box. It will be updated with any awards your swimmer might have won, ribbons from previous meets, an individual times report for the season and whatever else might come up.
State Meet:
The side bar has been updated with information. Please check the blog this week for updates on warm-up times, parking information, team tent area, etc. We will get it out to you as soon as we have it. Our team is responsible for the Heating Shed and the Boyz can’t do it alone. We will not have any timing shifts, only Heating shifts. League Congrats and State Entries/Practice
Congratulations to all of the swimmers who participated at league! It was a great meet! I am very impressed with everyone’s resilience and positivity throughout the long hot day. We had some excellent swims and lots of dropped time. Very well done!
Next week is practice for state swimmers. I will post a list of qualifiers later on today or tomorrow. Here are some things you need to know:
- Entries are due Monday at 3. If you haven’t talked to me or Coach Devon please do on Monday morning at practice or email gmstgators@gmail.com. If you are not going to be there please let us know too.
- If you swam in an A relay but didn’t make state individually, we will very likely ask you to swim a relay. I will reach out to those people on Monday if we don’t see you at practice.
- Practice times will be slightly different for state week: 13+ 7-8 am, 12- 8-9am.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
Practice Tomorrow for 400 Swimmers
400 swimmers show up any time between 6:30 and 9:30 am tomorrow for loosening and pacing.
Everyone else has usual practice, although practices will likely end early for the end of taper.
League Practice (See below for meet info)
It seems there was a little confusion about practice this week. League practice is at the same time this week for all age groups.
State practice next week will be slightly different which we will post about at the end of this week.

Order of Events – please note that the order of events is slightly altered for League. Everything stays in its normal order, except the Free Relays are moved to the end of the meet.
Parking – there is a map on the side bar, but street parking is your best option (please be mindful of houses and no parking signs)
Team Tent- We will be tight with other teams and have a very specific area in which are team can set up. Please do not wander to another location because it looks better. You will be encroaching on other teams, who also have limited space. You’re stuck with us for the day. We will have two team tents for kids/parents and will be happy to make a tent village within the capacity of our space. Please share all space/tents with our gator families.
League Caps: Your swimmer will be given their League Cap at the meet on Friday or Saturday. Please have them check in with the coaches upon their arrival. Please note: league caps are given to swimmers who both qualify for League AND swim at the event. All swimmers must wear the team cap during the meet. This is a League rule.
— Team Banquet Info —
Our Team Banquet will be at the pool on Wednesday 7/23. This is a non-swimming event and the pool will be closed for us. The team will provide pizza and lemonade and all families will bring a potluck item to share. This is a really fun event that honors all of the swimmers achievements over the summer and we hope your family can join us.
Flip it Friday
We had a fun time doing things backwards on Friday. It was a little confusing but we got through it!
