REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 4TH:

Meet Volunteers: Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the meet on Saturday, especially those who double volunteered to fill in the gaps!! As a reminder, every family needs to volunteer/sign up for at least one shift at every meet that you attend. If your kid is there, you need to be helping. We can’t do it without you. Seriously, we can’t do it without your help.

Saturday Meet vs. AAC:  We will be swimming at the Applewood Athletic pool on Saturday. Apparently they are having some construction done on a new shed that will effect both where we can sit/setup and whether or not they have electricity. We may be going old school with candlelit bathrooms and paper only time keeping.  Results may not be posted on race day, so please be patient. And if they tell you to sit somewhere else, just smile and say OK.

Freestyle Frenzy: We have a meet on Sunday that is a fundraiser for our swim team (all times are official and do count towards league and state). Your child must have a “B” time or better in one of the freestyle disciplines (400 free, 200 free, 100 free, 50 free or 25 free) to qualify.  Please check your results times from the Instrasquad and the 5Parks meet against the FSA Qual Times sheet.  If your child does not have a B time, then it is at the discretion of the coahes if they think they might get a B time at the AAC meet. Questions can be directed to the coaches.

Tie-Dye washing instructions

In case you didn’t go home with instructions for your newly tie-dyed item………

Please wait 24 hours to wash. Leave the item in the bag until you are ready to wash. While the shirt is still tied, it needs to be rinsed under cold running water. When you see very little dye running off the item, start to gradually remove the rubber bands while still rinsing. Get as much dye out as possible this way. Immediately after rinsing wash the item ( by itself ) with cold water and soap in the washing machine. Once this item has been washed and dried you are good to wear.

Wear your Gator gear around the pool!

Tie Dye & Ice Cream Social / Parent Meeting

On Friday, June 1st we will have our annual tie-dye and ice cream social. This is a tradition of tie-dying apparel with the Gator team colors that has been carried on for years . We are going to incorporate a mandatory parent meeting into this event.

This event will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
– Mandatory Parent meeting will begin 5:30 pm. Please plan on having one parent attend this meeting. We will discuss some summer season information and introduce all of the coaches and board members.
-Tie-Dye can be completed anytime between 5:00-7:30pm (this will allow them to finish by 8:00pm when the pool closes). Each person is responsible for bringing an item if they would like to tie-dye. The swim team will supply the dye (and the fun). It would be helpful if the item you were going to tie-dye was already prepared with rubber bands.
– Ice Cream will be served around 6:00pm and will be available until this is all eaten.
– We will also have our Gator apparel (shirts, sweatshirts, hats and swim caps) available for purchase. These items can be purchase with cash, check or credit card. We will have white tank tops and tshirts available for purchase as an option of something Gator to tie-dye.

NOTE: The pool will be open and kids will be able to swim.

We will have a fun gathering Friday night at the pool that starts at 5:00 pm.  The parent meeting will begin at 5:30 pm.  Your swimmer can bring a shirt, tank top or other item to tie-dye in team colors to wear throughout the season. We will have team tshirts and tanks to sell as well that you can tie-dye.

5Parks vs. GMST
Our first dual meet against another team starts on Saturday, June 2nd. This is a home meet at our pool.  Warmups are at 6:00 am (Visiting team has warmups at 6:30 am) with the meet starting at 7:00 am. 5Parks is a large team, so plan to be at the pool until about noon.  Also, if your child chooses to skip the warm up, there will not be another time for them to jump in the pool for that purpose. Once the meet starts at 7:00 am it is full steam ahead!  Please see the right hand side of the blog for the sign up link for volunteers.
