Schedule 7/3-7/9

We hope you all enjoyed your swim free weekend.  Here is what this week looks like.

No morning practice Monday or Tuesday

Regular morning practice Wednesday-Friday

Wednesday, July 5th:  Starts/Turns stroke clinic 9:45-10:15 (swimmers must already be signed-up to attend this clinic)

Thursday, July 6th:  Evening practice 8:00-9:00pm for upper division and parents.  Please don’t forget to let Porter know if you will be there.

Saturday, July 8th:  GMST vs Applewood Knolls (meet starts at 7:00am and warm-ups begin at 6:30am).  Swimmers need to sign-up for their events at the pool by the end of practice on Thursday.  Parents please see the volunteer sign-up to help out during this meet.  Many families are still on vacation so we need your help.

Thank you and have a wonderful July 4th!

No morning swim practice 7/3 or 7/4

Happy July 4th to all of our swimmer families!  Please note there will be NO swim practice on Monday, July 3rd or Tuesday, July 4th. (This includes morning and night practice.)

Fridays practice wasn’t highly attended and we heard a lot of swimmer having weekend plans.  We anticipate the number of swimmers to be light on Monday so we have decided to cancel practice.

We hope all families have a great holiday weekend!  We will see you all Wednesday morning.

Swimmer of the week- Week 3

We would like to recognize our swimmers for this week.

Male Swimmer of the Week:  Harry Wahlberg
Despite the challenging circumstances of the sub 60 degree weather Saturday morning, Harry had some fantastic swims.  It is no easy to swim fast when you’re freezing, but Harry managed to drop time in several races.  He decidedly trounced the competition in everyone of his heats, always giving his full effort.  Harry’s focus and drive are always prominent in practice, and we as coaches have no doubt more time drops are in Harry’s future.  Great work Harry!

Female Swimmer of the Week:  Marie Handy
Marie had some great swims this past weekend at Ken Caryl.  She won the 200 IM and the 100 Fly, ultimately winning the High Point award for the 13-14 age group.  Ken Caryl is a very competitive meet, so being the top scorer in one of the most competitive age groups is quite a feat.  Marie has been working hare all season and has been working hard all year and has exemplified much of what we look for in our Gator swimmers.  Great job Marie!

Schedule for 6/26-7/2

Here is the schedule for the upcoming week 6/26-7/2 (Please check your swimmer files on Tuesday at practice for the picture order form, Chipotle flyer and any ribbons)

No morning swim team practice Monday 6/26 or Wednesday 6/28
Regular morning practice Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Tuesday starts/turns stroke clinic:  9:45-10:15 (your swimmer must already be signed up to attend)
Wednesday 6/28:  Pictures, Pancakes and Water World
  • Swimmers need to wear their team swimming suit and bring a towel for pictures (as they may get in the water for pictures)
  • We will begin individual pictures at 7:30am.  Please have your order form completed.  There is a copy in your swimmer file or you can click here for an order form.
  • We ask all swimmers to be to the pool by 8:00am so we can begin lining up for our team photo
  • We need parent volunteers to help prepare and serve pancakes and bring items.  Please see the sign-up genius if you can help.
  • This is also the day our team goes to Water World.  Please know this is not required that you attend.  There will be no group transportation or adult supervision.  If you wish for your swimmer and/or family to attend please click on this link to purchase your discounted Water World tickets.  (Password is GMGators1).  Please note that you can purchase tickets through this link all summer long as these can be used any day.
Thursday 6/29:  Chipotle night 4-8pm (145 Union Blvd)
Support the swim club by eating at Chipotle on Thursday.  Mention Green Mountain Swim Club to give 50% back to the pool.  There is a flyer in your swimmers file about this event too.  You don’t need this as long as you mention the pool when you check out.
We don’t have a meet the weekend of July 1st so we wish all swim team families a restful and safe weekend.
